Martabak is a stuffed pancake or pan-fried bread

Martabak means "folded".
Martabak is often described as a (spicy) folded omelette pancake with bits of vegetables. The ingredients can vary greatly
The most common form of martabak; which is egg-filled pancake, sometimes mixed with green onion and (minced) meat, made from pan fried crepes which is folded and cut to squares. In Indonesia, the Martabak is one of the most popular street foods

There are two Indonesian versions
  • a savory with egg and meat,
  • a sweet one, also called Terang Bulan
In Indonesia, the savory beaten-egg filled martabak is called 'Martabak Telor" —  the sweet martabak folded pancake  is called "Martabak Manis' (Terang Bulan)
Lately, vegetarian martabaks and other forms of martabaks with chicken and other stuffings exist and can be found in many Muslim restaurants too

During this  Martabak cooking course you will start with prepare delicious Indonesian products that are available on the market every day
You learn how to make  combinations with products from the local market into Martabak. We do not use packages, bags or ready-to-use meat substitutes during this cooking course, but make everything 'from scratch'. In short an inspiring course where you are challenged to cook tasty Martabak at home.

COOKING TECHNIQUES AND PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE

At every cooking class we make different dishes that are nicely matched. In addition to knowing everything about the different methods of preparation, you will also learn various (basic) cooking techniques, backgrounds of dishes / ingredients and where you can buy any ingredients.
